Carina Lopez, MD, MPH
Dr. Carina M. Lopez is a Board Certified Family Medicine physician who practices at Kaiser Permanente in San Diego, California. She earned her medical degree from the University of California, San Diego. It is her goal to help the most underserved communities achieve better health outcomes therefore she chose to complete her residency at Harbor UCLA Medical Center in Los Angeles County. She also has a public health background, she earned her Master’s in Public Health at San Diego State University.
Dr. Lopez helped work on multiple community health campaigns such as prevention of unplanned teen pregnancy, HIV risk reduction, promoting women’s gyn health and increasing health care utilization and access at a local teen clinic.
Dr. Lopez is thrilled to practice medicine in her home town of South San Diego. Her passions include working towards creating healthier communities through patient advocacy and promoting wellness including mental health. She is also passionate about advocating for underserved communities in terms of promoting environmental and social justice.
She is excited to help Latina youth navigate the process of applying to medical school, which is why serving on the board of Latina’s in Medicine is so meaningful to her. Mentoring students has always been important to her. On her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her son and her family. She is an avid runner and loves the outdoors.
