Jessica Dominguez was born in Morelos, Mexico but was raised in Wasco, a small town located in California’s Central Valley. She is a medical student in the UCSD PRIME-Health Equity Program where she is pursuing both a Masters in Public Health and her Medical Degree.
As a Mexican immigrant who comes from a family of farm laborers, she is very passionate about serving Spanish-speaking, immigrant, and farm working communities. Jessica is also the first in her family to have gone to college and now the first in her family to become a physician.
Throughout her academic journey, she has had significant mentors who encouraged and believed in her to pursue her dreams of becoming a doctor. Thus, she is very grateful for the mentorship and opportunities she has had and is passionate about serving as a mentor to guide other Latinas, Latinos, and Latinx. Recognizing the importance of having Latinx representation in medicine, she hopes to inspire and support Latinas to pursue careers in medicine.
